Exploring your passions

It has been over 4 years since my last post to announce that I was engaged to the love of my life, April Heflich, now April Wade! My blog was originally intended to give you a snapshot into our life on a regular basis. 4 years later, I am still married to my amazing and talented wife, April, and we are more than blessed to be living a life that is rooted in love.

Recently, I have decided to take my blog into a different direction. All of us have passions in life. Whether we are passionate about sports, crafting, technology, ___________ (you fill in the blank); there is always something that we can say we are passionate about in this life. For me, I have come to develop a passion for coffee.

So, moving forward, I will be documenting my adventures with coffee and local coffee shops in Dallas, TX. I hope you will join me for ride ahead!

Only passions, great passions, can elevate the soul to great things.

We got Engaged!

If you would have asked me a year ago (March 2008) if I was going to be engaged at Christmas this year, I would have laughed out loud. It's funny though, what love can do to a person. I met my sweet bride to be at a group connect event for the Village Church in March of this year. From the moment I walked in the room and saw her standing there greeting people, I had the strangest feeling come over me. I didn't know at that moment that she would later become so dear to my heart.

Over the past 8 months, the Lord has challenged both April and I in a relationship that is Christ centered. We have had so much fun getting to know each other and each of our hearts. Spending time with her has spurred some of the best memories that I will ever have. I still remember our first date at the Dallas Arboretum, we walked around taking silly pictures of each other and the beautiful flowers that engulf the Arboretum.

She has the heart of a servant and the spirit of a gentle flower. She has captivated my heart and swept me completely off my feet. I love everything about her and who she aspires to be in this life. One of the things that I love most about April is that she will not stand of complacency. Her continuous pursuit of Christ is the most attractive thing that i can see.

On December 15th, 2008 at 8:30PM, I asked April to spend the rest of her life with me. She said, "Yes". I am humbled and honored to say that on May 30th, 2009 I will be able to call April my wife.

My prayer for us both is that the Lord would give us courage to be bold and love each other selflessly each and everyday that we are on this earth. That we might keep our eyes focused on the cross and serve each other through Jesus.
I love you with all my heart April Marie Heflich

Viva Las Vegas

There are very few places that I think one should visit in their life while on this earth and Las Vegas is one of those places. This is especially true when you get to go there with the love of your life (April) and your parents who graciously pay for the entire trip. We spent 3 nights in the "second city that never sleeps", Las Vegas, which is long enough for any normal human to spend in a place where money fly's out the door every 20 seconds.

I asked myself the question while gazing off into the bright lights of the Vegas strip, " How much does each hotel/casino spend every month lighting up there property to attract people to come to gamble/stay at their casino?" Don't know........don't really care

While in Vegas, we had the privilege of staying at the Bellagio Hotel & Casino. To me it was by far the most elegant of all the hotels in Vegas. The flower arrangements and decoration in this place were astonishing! (see facebook pics) The extensive detail from the lobby to the casino area were perfect in every sense of the way. We had a sweet room with a lake view. This gave us the opportunity to watch the fountain show every night we were there!

BTW: They had awesome bath robes that i took advantage of during my stay! So comfortable

Shows: We attended Stomp Out Loud on Friday night with my parents at the Planet Hollywood hotel. The show itself was phenomenal. The creative thought and hours of practice that go into doing a show like stomp rattles my brain. My favorite segment that they did was one with zippos & lighters! One of the most creative things I have ever seen. Pimpin!

The other show that we saw was "O" at the Bellagio. If you ever get the chance to go to Vegas, you MUST see this show! Its semi confusing to follow but the entertainment is the best in Vegas by far!

Don't ask if we won any money while we were in Vegas because we lost it ALL!! just kidding....no but seriously, Black Jack can be a brutal game. On the other hand, April had more success with gambling on this trip than I did. She schooled me in both Slots and Roulette!

I can't forget the food! Table 10- One of Emril's restaurants...... has the best dessert I have ever tasted in my life! Hollow donut holes filled with a chocolate custard sauce covered in brown sugar (my mouth waters just thinking about it). The Wine wad good and so was the steak! Table 10 perfected it all. Carnevino's was another place we went on the last night we were there. It was an Italian Steakhouse... we had a speed talker for a waiter... That was rough! The menu had things we had never heard of in your life but in the end the food was spectacular. (In the background during our dinner, there was a man trying to convince his date (a much younger lady to be his Sugar Mamma... bahahahahahahaha It didn't work!

Thank you Mom & Dad for the amazing trip!! Thank You April for great memories!

I love you all!
